tranq
project overview
tranq is a mobile sleep-aid music application developed as an adaptive listening environment rather than a static playlist. originating from generative prototypes built in max/msp and supercollider and later expanded into a full ios application using c++ and juce, the project integrates original composition, system design, and audio production into a single musical framework. gong composed, recorded, and produced all of the music, creating over forty original pieces designed for slow temporal development and immersive long-form listening. the app is now part of his ongoing work under philip kraus designs and continues to be actively developed and refined. a dynamic sleep-monitoring system using motion data allows playback conditions to evolve over time, treating musical structure, system behavior, and listener experience as a unified compositional field.
